The Pilates Reformer

Despite its fearsome-sounding name, the Reformer represents a benign alternative to those machines you see in use in the gym. Those gym machines, with their pulleys, levers and weights, tend to lead to emphasis on the stressful aspects of their use.

The Reformer, on the other hand, is intended to relieve stress on the joints and back by having you sit, kneel or lay down on a sliding platform as you exercise. The Reformer encourages stability in your torso and postural alignment as you work your legs and arms against adjustable resistance.

On first use you should find the Reformer's non-impact stretching and toning almost effortless and relaxing. And kind to your joints.

As you progress with the moves we agree best suit your individual make-up and objectives, resistance can be gradually increased to match your improving core strength, stability and muscle tone.

The Pilates Cadillac Reformer

Including a cage above the Reformer's slide makes it the Cadillac Reformer. The cage provides anchor points for springs supporting straps and bars that offer you a wide range of pushing and pulling motions.

The Cadillac Reformer is a specialised piece of equipment. As such it should be used under the guidance of a trained and qualified Pilates Reformer instructor.

In my studio all exercise on the Cadillac Reformer is on a one-to-one basis so that we can focus entirely on your needs and make sure that your progress is within sensible limits. This means getting fitter without suffering the stress and soreness you often hear referred to by those overdoing it in Pilates classes, or pumping iron, in the gym.
